Board Sharing Code Teachers in our district would currently like to share SMART Notebook presentations from their laptop to other Teachers boards in the school building. As of right now getting the code for their board is somewhat cumbersome. The teachers are logged into the board with their school email, but have to log out of the board to see the code. The code is found by clicking on the icon on the right that looks like a cell phone/tablet. That icon disappears when they log into the board with their email. 4 votesThanks for the feedback. I understand the frustrations with pairing a board using the board code. We’re currently working on a solution that will greatly simplify this by getting rid of the board code in an upcoming release.
The plan is to SMART Notebook files that are uploaded to suite.smarttech.com to also be accessible from within the board’s Files Library when the teacher logs in to the board with the same account.

Ability to lock or disable video inputs : We would like the ability to disable or force a specific video input.
There is no ability to disable inputs in the configuration of our SPNL-6000 series boards.
Even better would be to be able to include this in the USB configuration file.4 votes -
Display usage Time in hours/minutes Most commercial Displays and Projectors keep a usage/hour counter. This is vital for asset management and return on investment metrics.
I.e. for establishing how often the screen is actually utilised by end users.

As a modular appliance in the OPS slot, the iQ system doesn’t have integration at the level required to do this type of reporting.
This will be considered on future panels that integrate SMART iQ and the display scaler.

Kapp App/Whiteboard Support-Chromebooks Chromebooks need to be supported by the Kapp app.
Currently the only way for our teachers to initiate a Whiteboard sharing session is by downloading and launching the app on their personal phones. When they download the app on their Chromebooks, it gets stuck on "connecting" after scanning the QR code. Smart support confirmed there is currently no support for Chromebooks/ChromeOS.

We’re working on a better whiteboard experience that can share directly through the cloud without needing another device.

We’ll assess the need to bring the kapp mobile app to Chrome OS later this summer.

Shout out! app The Shout out! app has such potential! It would be really nice if the teacher can load content on the screen for the students to respond to. For example, imagine for a language class, a stack of flashcards that is pre-edited, and students can use the buzzer to verbally respond to it, or type the response. Please add the function to load content onto the screen.

Display Usernames Instead of Unreadable IDs in Device Details Currently, when viewing device details in SMART Remote Management (SRM), the signed-in users appear as long, unreadable alphanumeric IDs rather than clear, recognizable usernames. This makes it difficult to quickly identify who is logged into a device.
Proposed Improvement:
Display meaningful usernames or email addresses instead of cryptic user IDs.

Managing pin for settings from adminportal The settings on our boards are secured with a PIN code. If this PIN code is leaked, we currently have to manually update the PIN on each board, which is not practical with more than 40 boards. Could this be implemented in the admin portal so that it can be managed centrally?

The capability to move the Smart Mirror Toolbar When sharing a screen in Smart mirror the toolbar on the top middle of the screen is not adjustable to move. Would like to be able to drag and adjust when needed like the toolbar in whiteboard. I might need it at the bottom of the screen or in the corner so I can show the students the content at the top without having the toolbar block it.

SMART screen share app - update to work with MacOS14 SMART Screen share no longer works once a user has updated to MacOS14. When you have boards mounted to the wall, connecting the laptop using wires is a step backward and also a safely hazard. Our teachers need the ability use touchback which makes your suggestion of using airplay or googlecast worthless since they do not allow touchback. Holding back updating to the latest OS on our laptops is not possible. Consider updating the SMART screen share app, OR making SMART mirror functional on the 6000 series boards.

Every time there is an update I have to reload all of my chromium tabs and passwords for those websites. Please make it like the chrome desktop setting where there is an option to "open specific pages (tabs) on startup". Thanks!
3 votesHello! It looks like others using Chromium and Google Chrome on Android are experiencing the same frustration. Google is currently working on this but no release date yet. I expect to see this in a future version of Chrome/Chromium.

A more secure PIN An option in SMART IQ settings to have a Password or PIN required to use the board after it boots up. Like any phone or laptop today.
As of 5/12/22 there is a basic PIN feature that addressed one of 2 points from someone else's idea. A PIN that prohibits someone from looking through materials while the presenter is out of the room. But in many classrooms there are some pretty witty students that know that turning off the smartboard (By holding the power button for 10s or unplugging the power cable) and turning it back on, gives full access…

Whiteboard menu and import pdf option Whiteboard app has moveable menu (Left/right toggle) so it can be accessed on left or right side of Whiteboard app. It would also be great if the whiteboard app could import pdfs.

Make the screen shade work like a screen shade please. When using Smart Notebook or Smart Ink the screen shade can be moved to reveal parts of the screen. However, when using the SMART IQ the screen shade does not move (it only serves as a screen cover.) It would be great if the screen shade could function the same in IQ. For instance, after you write out a list on the whiteboard app you could press the screen shade button and then reveal the notes as you teach.

Enable users to push out certificates via the SMART Remote Management Console When I click on a device or a device filter group and then choose Repositories actions->Settings->Add New->Certificates and try to Install a CA Certificate to my devices it always come back with the error 'Name' field has errors. I contacted support and they stated that this functionality is not supported at the time. They didn't know when or if it ever would be.
I would find this quite helpful as we have around a 100 boards in our schools and I would much rather be able to push out our certificates than visit each board to install them.
