Full screen view in SMART iQ™ 4 whiteboard It would be great to find a way to get (temporary) rid of the floating tool bar of the SMART iQ™ 4 whiteboard (i. e. when embedding/playing a full screen video).
A possible solution could be to have a new "full screen view" available in the whiteboard which makes the floating tool bar disappear (temporary). To go back to the "regular view" including the floating tool bar there could be an icon in the upper right corner of the full screen to tap on.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Thomas1 voteThank you for your feedback. We have been considering this issue, and we have a few ideas we're exploring. One is to allow the user to shorten the toolbar to essential buttons only (pen tool, add page, etc.). Another is to allow the toolbar to be collapsed entirely. It would become a button on the side of the screen.
This second option sounds similar to what you're suggesting. It does open the door to other questions, like would you want to use toolbar elements from a collapsed state? Would you want to be able to move the button? And should it be anchored to a side or free-floating?
If you have any additional thoughts you'd like to share, your feedback is appreciated.

Request the Simple Setup Guide for IQ4.x configuration The IQ4.x is too complex for school support/administrative personnel, so please request the Simple Setup Guide for configuring it for educational/business customers, along with a detailed description of the IQ4.x system settings for customizing them for schools/companies.

The capability to move the Smart Mirror Toolbar When sharing a screen in Smart mirror the toolbar on the top middle of the screen is not adjustable to move. Would like to be able to drag and adjust when needed like the toolbar in whiteboard. I might need it at the bottom of the screen or in the corner so I can show the students the content at the top without having the toolbar block it.

Login Settings It would be great to be able to have a setting to set a user to be the default login. When setting up our boards, I made the first account the admin and then created a user to be able to more easily change the user if a teacher would leave or change locations.
However, when they leave for the day and come back, the SMART Board logs into the Admin account by default. Thus creating more steps teachers have to do to log back into their account.

Settings for a standard size for handwriting to text Tool We use Smartboard at a school for the visually impaired kids. To improve the readability for the pupils and make it simpler for our teachers, we would like to have the option to set the size of the text converted from handwriting in a standarized size. Actually the converted text is very small and we have to resize each word separately.
1 voteThat's a very practical use. I'll see what we can do!

SmartMirror Touchback for selected shared screen (Screen 1, 2, etc) Allow Smart Mirror touchback control to work with whichever screen is selected to share. Currently it only works with the "Primary" display. If Screen 1 is the primary display on the computer, then touchback works on that screen but if you select to share Screen 2, it is visual only with no touch-back control.
Windows 10/11.

label icons Labeling the icons on the new SMART iQ home screen would be very helpful. In previous versions, the "circles" said what they were, but now. there are a whole bunch of new icons that are not recognizable to teachers without taking getting started courses or googling them somehow. Since it's iQ, we can't even hover over them to see what they are, so adding labels/words would be great, or bring back circles like the ones that were there before, even better.

Wifi setup using NFC Many educational centers use WPA2 and each user has to enter their credentials to access the Internet.
It would be very practical to be able to use NFC cards to configure the connection to the WiFi, in addition to logging in to the Smartboard.1 voteThank you for this idea. This is currently under review for the next generation of displays with NFC capability.

SMART Mirror for iPadOS Make a version of SMART Mirror APP for iPadOS. Looks unprofessional or unsafe to use the other versions. You only have it for the iPhone or iPods...

Thank you for the feedback. Language support is generally added based on sales volume. We don’t currently have support for right to left languages, so Hebrew would be difficult to add. Keep an eye on this suggestion to see if circumstances change.

Display usage Time in hours/minutes Most commercial Displays and Projectors keep a usage/hour counter. This is vital for asset management and return on investment metrics.
I.e. for establishing how often the screen is actually utilised by end users.
Can we please access this feature from the remote management4 votesunder review ·AdminSMART Technologies Product Management (Product Manager, SMART Technologies) responded
As a modular appliance in the OPS slot, the iQ system doesn’t have integration at the level required to do this type of reporting.
This will be considered on future panels that integrate SMART iQ and the display scaler.

Kapp App/Whiteboard Support-Chromebooks Chromebooks need to be supported by the Kapp app.
Currently the only way for our teachers to initiate a Whiteboard sharing session is by downloading and launching the app on their personal phones. When they download the app on their Chromebooks, it gets stuck on "connecting" after scanning the QR code. Smart support confirmed there is currently no support for Chromebooks/ChromeOS.

We’re working on a better whiteboard experience that can share directly through the cloud without needing another device.
Our Workspaces activity that’s currently available in SMART Learning Suite Online uses this new sharing capability now – for information on that, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6Of4Sc9bNA
We’ll assess the need to bring the kapp mobile app to Chrome OS later this summer.

Freezing the whiteboard to current screen Our teachers have requested to have a feature where they can freeze the whiteboard to the current state rather than it being movable with hand to the next white board empty space. The idea is to give the ability to the user to freeze the current whiteboard state so that users can write only on that white board and then if need be, unfreeze it to move to the next empty state. Currently it just moves and at times when teachers are writing it just moves randomly.
7 votesWe are working on a new whiteboard experience that features a canvas that could be zoomed all the way out to lock it from panning. Stay tuned for something to come into the beta channel in October.

How to work with the module in class, logging in hiding content on my screen for students This is more of a question for the developers! If the module/Smartboard is the only computer in the classroom, how does the teacher get access to her or his content in the safest and quickest way? I'm also wondering how the teacher should work the module while take attendence in class or if he or she wants to hide the content of the screen for the students.
2 votesWe’re starting to plan a Screen Shade feature now. Thanks for the idea!
