  1. Currently, SMART Remote Management (SRM) does not support centralized notification management for iQ4 devices. Administrators would like the ability to suppress or control notifications from the OS, apps, and system updates to minimize classroom disruptions.

    Proposed Feature:

-Add a notification management setting in SRM that allows admins to:
-Disable or suppress notifications at the device or group level.
-Implement a policy-based approach similar to Do Not Disturb (DND).
-Manage OS-level, app, and update notifications centrally.

  3. Currently, SMART Remote Management (SRM) in iQ 4 does not allow administrators to push settings to multiple users simultaneously. This limitation creates inefficiencies for large deployments where administrators need to apply the same configurations across multiple users manually.

    Proposed Solution:
Introduce a feature that enables bulk settings deployment to multiple users within SRM. This would allow administrators to:

Select multiple users and apply settings at once.

Create and save configuration profiles that can be assigned to multiple users.

Automate recurring setting applications through group policies.

    Business Impact:

Saves time for IT administrators managing large-scale deployments.

    Reduces the potential for human…

  4. Currently, when selecting an icon for repository items in SMART Remote Management (SRM), users must scroll through a long list of icons without a search option. This makes it difficult and time-consuming to find the right icon. Adding a search bar would allow users to find icons by keyword (e.g., "lock," "cloud," "network"), making the process faster and more efficient.

  5. Customers want SMART to implement guest mode controls similar to what is available on Clear Touch panels with NUITEQ software. Specifically, they need the ability for admins to restrict what guests (default user) can access and ensure session data is erased upon sign-out.

    Key Features Requested:

    Admin-Controlled Guest Permissions
Ability to define what guest users can access (e.g., disable Chrome, limit app usage).
Admins should have centralized control over these settings.
    Guest Session Auto-Wipe
When a guest user signs out, all session data (browsing history, downloads, logins, files, etc.) should be automatically erased.
Prevents unauthorized data persistence between sessions.
    Persistent…

  6. Currently, when viewing device details in SMART Remote Management (SRM), the signed-in users appear as long, unreadable alphanumeric IDs rather than clear, recognizable usernames. This makes it difficult to quickly identify who is logged into a device.

    Proposed Improvement:

Display meaningful usernames or email addresses instead of cryptic user IDs.

  8. It would be great to find a way to get (temporary) rid of the floating tool bar of the SMART iQ™ 4 whiteboard (i. e. when embedding/playing a full screen video).

A possible solution could be to have a new "full screen view" available in the whiteboard which makes the floating tool bar disappear (temporary). To go back to the "regular view" including the floating tool bar there could be an icon in the upper right corner of the full screen to tap on.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Thomas

Thank you for your feedback. We have been considering this issue, and we have a few ideas we're exploring. One is to allow the user to shorten the toolbar to essential buttons only (pen tool, add page, etc.). Another is to allow the toolbar to be collapsed entirely. It would become a button on the side of the screen.

This second option sounds similar to what you're suggesting. It does open the door to other questions, like would you want to use toolbar elements from a collapsed state? Would you want to be able to move the button? And should it be anchored to a side or free-floating?

If you have any additional thoughts you'd like to share, your feedback is appreciated.

  9. 4.3 iQ We would like to be able to crop images that are either copy and paste or drag and drop or brought in with a camera.

  10. This feature would allow administrators to disable the ability for teachers to create PINs for SMART boards via SRM. This can help enhance security and ensure a standardized access approach across devices.

  11. Currently, apps installed via SRM using Google Play do not automatically update when Google releases new versions. This creates a gap where administrators must manually update apps to ensure they are current.

    Proposed Solution:

Introduce automatic update functionality for all apps installed via SRM using Google Play.
Ensure that updates follow the regular Google Play update cycle without requiring manual intervention from administrators.

This enhancement will streamline app management and ensure devices always run the latest app versions without additional administrative overhead.

  12. Implement functionality in SMART Remote Management to manage Google Play Store access with greater precision. Requested features include:

The ability to approve specific applications for installation.
-Options to restrict or block access to the Google Play Store entirely.
-A simple toggle to disable Play Store access across all devices.
This would empower administrators to maintain better control over device use and improve security within managed environments.

  14. Allow administrators to customize the home screen layout on devices managed through SMART Remote Management. This feature would include the ability to:

Arrange Apps and Widgets: Specify the placement of apps and widgets on the home screen.

Control App Visibility: Determine which apps are displayed based on user roles or groups.

Set Backgrounds: Enable standardized or personalized backgrounds, maintaining user preferences where applicable.

Save Profiles: Create and save reusable templates for home screen layouts, applicable to specific groups or individual users.

    Use Case:

Educational institutions and organizations want to create a consistent and intuitive interface for teachers, students, and staff.…

  15. When using the SMART Mirror app, photos shared in the shared items folder cannot currently be opened or displayed directly on the SMART Board display. While users can download these photos to their personal devices, the inability to display them on the board disrupts workflows and creates confusion, especially given the app’s support for other file types like videos. Enhancing SMART Mirror to support image display (e.g., JPEG, PNG) on the board would provide a more seamless and complete experience for users.

  16. I remember there used to be a feature called palm rejection. Where someone with a disability could rest their hand on the screen and still be able to write with the pen. And the palm rejection would detect that and reject touch for that.

  17. Request from a School District Technology Director:

For customizing the Google Chrome homepage, we'd want to hide the news and other content that is on by default. Along the same lines, the ability to set default homepages in Chrome on the boards would be a fantastic feature. It would allow us to set it to something like a resource page we'd create so they are immediately accessible to staff using the boards. This might be more a Google question than SMART, however do you know if the Chrome browser on the boards can be managed in our Google Admin panel? We…

  18. Having been told by Smart support that IQ4 cannot be run on my MX v2 screen, my request is that basic functionality like add arrows, shapes and lines be added to the IQ3 that is running on the MXv2.

For a school with 10 whiteboards, spending thousands on a hardware upgrade kit just to be able to draw lines and arrows is not reasonable.

This really needs to be included on a basic IQ3 update.

  19. I really need some basic drawing tools in the native IQ Whiteboard without having to connect to a PC to use Smart Notebook. The simplest of drawing tools like arrows, lines and basic shapes would be ideal. Today I wanted to split my MX screen to show 2 ways to complete a maths problem. I’d love to be able to choose draw - line - and using the pen, draw a simple straight line. I don’t want to have to keep a PC beside the board to mirror to it as I use my PC less and less these days.…

The iQ4 update released today (December 11, 2024) includes a shape tool and text creator tool. We will be adding lines/arrows in the new year. We will also be updating shapes and text to include more formatting options.

If your school is not yet using iQ4, talk to your IT Admin on what possibilities are available to upgrade.
