Sharing directly to a student's device I am a Teacher Consultant for the Visually Impaired from Michigan that works with many low vision students that need access to what is being presented on the Smartboard on their own devices (i.e. an iPad or a Chromebook). This allows them the close proximity to the screen that they need, and also the ability to magnify smaller details on the screen as necessary. I just talked with Smart Tech Support and it seems that the only option for this currently is to use virtual meeting software (i.e. Teams, Zoom, Google Meet), which is what several of my students are…

Smart Notebook App On the Smartboard MX the only way to open a Smart Notebook file made on my computer is to open it in the whiteboard app and use Lumio. When doing that I loose all the features of the Smart Notebook file. Are there any plans to have the Smart Notebook application on the computer work on the Smartboard?
1 voteHi Mary Jo
iQ Whiteboard is built to support Notebook and Lumio files. Most Notebook content is supported by iQ Whiteboard. (Widgets like timers and dice are supported in iQ 3 but not iQ 4 at this time.) If you want the Notebook interface, you will need to tether your computer to your board with the appropriate cables.
If there are features that you feel should be working that aren't, please reach out to https://www.smarttech.com/connect-with-smart/contact-support and a support specialist will assist you with your issue.

Split screen is available on V3 and V4 displays running iQ 3.12 or newer. You will be able to run multiple apps at the same time.
Unfortunately, Android doesn't allow displaying multiple instances of the same app at the same time. So you can't have 2 browser tabs displayed side by side.
However, you can have the browser and whiteboard side by side at the same time.

broadcast Teachers are asking for ways to share what's on their boards to student devices outside of lumio lessons. This would be anything on the iQ platform, and potentially on an onboard OPS PC? Basically asking for screen sharing "the other way" as a broadcast type feature.

Able to choose input at startup It would have been good if it was possible to choose which input signal should be opened on the smart screen when starting the computer. Afterwards, you should of course be able to choose another input signal if you want to switch. This is to avoid selecting the correct input signal every time the smart screen is started.
1 voteGood news! There's a setting to configure which input the board will automatically switch to on start up. Take a look at Settings> System> Default input.

Allow app updates from management console to push to all devices at once. (Smart Mirror especially) We have many smart panels for our school (one in each class!) and we cannot seem to find a way to push app updates from the management console to the panels all at once. We are having to physically go to each smart panel in the entire school to update the Smart mirror app one by one. Very annoying!

Add Support for Extend Display with SMART Mirror App It would be great to be able to present and extend the display to the SMART Board, using the SMART Mirror Windows App.
This is possible with Miracast but there are bugs with Miracast I have raised with support but been told can't be fixed.1 voteNow you can choose to share an entire screen (from your primary or secondary monitor) or a window using the desktop app.
Check out the full SMART Mirror release notes

Disable the overlay when using the chromium browser When using the chromium browser it would be nice for the ink to write directly on the page instead of having the overlay
1 voteYou can disable the overlay layer by going into Settings> Annotation and toggling the Enable annotation layers option.
Within that Setting, you can also disable the annotation layer for specific apps.

WOL My suggestion is to implement a WOL (Wake On Lan) on the displays with Smart Boarding with IQ as it would be a good way to be able to control the displays 100% remotely without having the need to have them close by. Especially the fact of being able to turn them on at the user's needs without having to press the power button. Thank you.
1 voteGood news! You can enable WOL by going into Settings> Power and selecting Network Standby (Sleep).

SMART Mirror - Unable to seemlessly switch between the whiteboard and the current screen share session When sharing your screen using SMART Mirror and you switch to the whiteboard tool, this ends your current screen sharing session. To share a participants screen again, you have to manually connect back to the session.
This can pose problems for teachers who present at the front of the classroom. They will need to go back to the computer to manually connect again after each whiteboard session.
While we can use the whiteboard application within iQ, it would be nice to be able to switch or prevent the screen sharing session from ended when switched to the whiteboard tool.

Landscape orientation of Smart Mirror App for Android Smart Mirror App for Android is always locked in a portrait orientation. Rather annoying since you are usually using the device in landscape mode (the same of the smartboard).

SMART Mirror - Allow users to select which monitor is shared to the SMART Display There are no settings to select which monitor you want to share with the SMART Display or to change it to a secondary monitor when the session has started.

Native Screen Share form Windows and Android devices. We would suggest returning the native screen share from Windows devices to iQ (SMART Mirror - V3). It is annoying for occasional / roaming users that they have to download a screen sharing app. Most users share content from Windows devices.

Hide Onscreen Keyboard The onscreen keyboard is often in the way, and after moving it to a nice place, it pops back up in the way again. Would like an option to disable, dock, or hide. We use connected wireless keyboards anyway.
2 votesThis is available on SMART Board V3 and V4 displays running iQ 3.14 or newer in Settings> Language> Physical keyboard options> Use on-screen keyboard.

Writing with Fingers in Whiteboard Writing with fingers or other substitutes in whiteboard. Would be very helpfull for disabled kids or in primary schools.
5 votesThe iQ Whiteboard now includes the option to enable inking with the finger. Details here: https://support.smarttech.com/docs/software/iq/en/using-smart-whiteboard/finger-inking.cshtml
