I would like to be able to use the split screen and have 2 different web application / browser tabs up at once.

Split screen is available on V3 and V4 displays running iQ 3.12 or newer. You will be able to run multiple apps at the same time.
Unfortunately, Android doesn't allow displaying multiple instances of the same app at the same time. So you can't have 2 browser tabs displayed side by side.
However, you can have the browser and whiteboard side by side at the same time.
