Dual Page Display
Where did Dual Page Display go?? It is the key reason I have been using Notebook for years, when every other professor I know uses PowerPoint.
You'd think SMART would try to keep features that distinguish it from the competition. I guess I'll need to make the switch once Notebook 22 is no longer available.
106 votesMy sincerest apologies for not updating you all after the December Notebook release. The 16:9 aspect ratio created some unique challenges, and we needed more time to complete the rebuild of dual-page view. This feature will be included in SMART Notebook 24.0, scheduled for release at the end of May 2024.
Because of the aspect ratio, there is gray letterboxing above and below the canvas. For this release, the user will need to manually extend the page to fill the entire screen with canvas. We are working to automate this capability for our 24.1 update later in the year.

PLEASE bring option to select pages of a Notebook to export to pdf back!!!!!!
When exporting a Notebook file to PDF in Notebook 23, it only gives option to name the file... no options anymore. PLEASE bring back the intermediate options window which allowed editing which pages to convert, titles, date, page orientation, etc.
74 votesIn Notebook 22 and earlier, the "Export PDF" actually opened a Printer window. Because of that, we moved the print functionality to the Print menu option. Export turned into a pure "turn this file into a PDF" without the ability to target specific pages. We've received a LOT of feedback about losing that feature, but I suspect users don't know that they can still do it under Print. I want to make sure that the functionality under Print meets teachers' needs. Would anyone be willing to try the Print option in Notebook 23 and confirm whether it performs how you want?

The latest update no longer allows me to drag the cursor over a number of objects on a page and select them as a group to edit / move etc.

Equation Editor
The new equation editor program is terrible! You can't input spaces anymore. The font is weird and makes everything too close and exponents look misplaced. The upper-level operators are missing like limit notation and some integral operators. I can not longer use this program without a better equation editor program as a math teacher. The extend page option needs to come back and the screen capture as well. What a terrible update for educators.

BRING BACK MASKING!
Losing the masking capabilities of Smart Notebook was an awful decision! It is one of the few reasons I still use Smart and have not switched over to Google Slides like many of my colleagues have. Luckily I can still run the old version and have that ability, but just might have to consider finally being done with my Smart Notebook.

Type and write directly into tables. Fix text formatting for tables!
I find tables to bee completely unuseable in Notebook 23.
Text has to be dragged and dropped in and out of cells to be edited. For students this is basicly impossible to wrap their head around. Why can't you just type directly into the cells? Why can't you edit text inside the cells??
Moving text from one cell to the next somehow creates a copy instead of moving the text. Formatting text once it's been inserted into the cells is impossible unless the text is removed first. Resizing table cells once anything has been added to the table at all…33 votes -
Tip: Can Go Back to Notebook 22
Fyi. . . If you, like many, are desperately missing your favorite Notebook features that were for some reason taken away in NB 23, you can go to "View" and then "Open in Notebook 22" and your favorite things that were so useful for lesson planning/creation, teaching, and learning will be there again! Hello screen capture, SMART Recorder, Concept Mapping, and more! Maybe if everyone does this, they'll get the hint : )

In Smart Notebook 23, the "Align" section is missing from the View menu. In version 22 this was still present. Why has it disappeared?

Allow us to determine "page size" in default page preferences.
Allow us to determine "page size" in default page preferences. I prefer 4x3, and find changing each page from its default as a time waste.

regular polygons
The regular polygon tool no longer draws regular polygons. The angles are all wrong. Perhaps the tool has not been updated to cope with the 16:9 screen resolution.

Press shift to get horizontal/vertical lines
When dragging a line out, please can pressing shift snap the line to be horizontal or vertical. It used to snap to horizontal or vertical when you were close automatically (which was sometimes a pain) but it would be handy to be able to control that like you can in Word for example.

Go back to the 2022 version.
Better because you brought back the "Extend Page" feature. I do not like what has been done to the View Screens tab. 100% is way too big and when you reduce the size it just cuts the whole thing down to a tiny box....I keep trying to use the new version but I find things that I don't like as I use it. I will always go back to 22 version as long as it is available.
Please just stop trying to improve on the 22 version. It was already great.7 votes -
Error PDF Export on Notebook 23.0
The export as PDF fails when using Notebook 23.0. Instead, the Notebook must be opened to 22.0 then exported. It would be nice to not have this extra step.

General stability
Stability of 23.2 is poor. I have numerous crashes, losing critical edits. Also on start up the page index is blank and only appears by selecting attachments and going back to page index.

Crop (aka "mask") an Image
YOU TOOK AWAY MASKING AN IMAGE?!?! You only just recently introduced this option after never having a way to crop images. Taking it away is a huge step back.
