Lumio lacks a lot of features compared to Quizizz.
First, I will tell you which app I enjoy using and then I will compare it to Lumio. Lumio needs to adapt quickly to replace other apps, such as Quizizz. Quizizz is an application that works very well in the classroom and for online courses. ECNO, in Ontario Canada, an organisation that evaluated online teaching applications, sent its recommendations to our school council and has blocked the application. I believe in learning through play and until June of this year I was using Quizizz. I had been using it as a learning tool for over seven years. I still use Quizizz when I teach outside of school and in my leadership camps. The application works very well, and it is ideal for many situations when you are in a group. You can apply several learning strategies with Quizizz. I have a very long list of why Quizizz is a good tool for students. Here are some advantages of Quizizz: Instructor-paced lessons/quizzes. Teachers control the pace; the whole class goes through each question together. Students who are slower can respond to their speed AND can also come in first place. Student-paced lessons/quizzes: Students progress at their own pace and you see live rankings and results for each question or lesson. The application works very well on a PC, laptop, tablet or phone. You can export, import, print quizzes for students to study both on paper and online. You can change the type of game quickly to keep the interest. There are several types of questions, you can add images, videos and audios to the quizzes. Can be shared with parents/guardians You can change the level of competition and speed. You can easily share with other teachers.
Since then, we have been suggested to use Lumio. I have been using it for 2 months now and it is…ok.
Lumio is not ideal for several reasons. Here are some observations why Lumio is not working well: We cannot import, export documents to help us with our Quizzes. You cannot import or export a txt, excel questions. We do not see the individual progress of each person when we do an activity like a Quiz. Questions, Q&As, or other formats cannot be printed with Lumio. When we make a quiz game, we cannot work with photos which limits the visual questions. We only have quiz questions or true/false answers when we do quiz games. You can't have pictures when you do game questions in Lumio. The questions cannot be printed. You cannot print different formats, such as Quizizz, so that students can use different strategies to study. You cannot change the game type of the questions. With Lumio, the fastest always win in games. With Lumio, speed is therefore the way to win, which does not help those who respond less quickly. Lumio has animations that slow down the game. You cannot print different formats of the questions to help you study. You can't have multiple choices when making games. We sometimes get error messages that we are reaching our workspace limit. Sometimes during the game students get blocked out of the game. The music will continue playing even though we’ve closed the application and webpage. So, we are…stuck with Lumio that is ok. But it does not fulfill all of what we need.
