Please let the user customize default values for pen width and text size.
It's annoying to have to change pen thickness many times. Same goes for text size. In general, give the user much more customizability and control. We have no options right now.

You can sort of do that already. You can customize all of the 6 specific text types, and all of the 8 pen colors and shapes.
Click on the item you want to modify, then click on the properties menu. Set it to whatever color or thickness you want, then at the bottom there will be a check box for "save tool properties" It won't work if that exact property is already in use. Anything novel will become a default. When I figured this out it was an awakening. -

Annoying is a mild descriptor of how I feel about this issue!
Pen size and line thickness should save to the last chosen thickness.
