Tip: Can Go Back to Notebook 22
Fyi. . . If you, like many, are desperately missing your favorite Notebook features that were for some reason taken away in NB 23, you can go to "View" and then "Open in Notebook 22" and your favorite things that were so useful for lesson planning/creation, teaching, and learning will be there again! Hello screen capture, SMART Recorder, Concept Mapping, and more! Maybe if everyone does this, they'll get the hint : )

Can you please tell me step by step how to open my Smart Notebook files in version 22 instead of version 23? I am really missing the features that were available in previous Smart Notebook versions than the Smart Notebook 23 that I was forced to download. I would appreciate any help!!

The current version of Notebook 23.1 (released in September) and Notebook 23.2 (released this past week in December) include a user preference to launch in v22 or v23. Once that preference is set, that is the version that will launch from your desktop icon.

This is true, but it is annoying to have to open files twice. And if I save the file, it still saves as 2023 version instead of 2022. Really, I would love it if I could just remove version 23, and just only use version 22.

Even better, in Windows I pinned v22 to my Start menu so I don't have to open v23 first.
On my Windows 11 computer, version 22 is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\Education Software\Notebook.exe
In contrast, version 23 is located one folder deeper:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\Education Software\Notebook\Notebook.exeNotebook has served me well over many years, so I sure hope v22 will stay available until the features removed in the severely-diminished v23 are returned.

I've been doing this, but then I'm essentially opening every file twice!

Do they really monitor which version you use? Our comments here might be more useful.

Thank you for sharing this. I hate the newest version 23. I liked version 22 much better. Less problems with my pdf documents. Thanks for sharing this useful tip.
